I graduated in 1992 and subsequently completed my specialist urological training both in Germany (Ulm/Marburg/Kassel) and the UK (South Wales & London). Following my specialist exam in Frankfurt/Main in 1997 I received a PhD from the faculty of human medicine of the university Marburg/Lahn in 1999.
Having practiced as a consultant urologist in Bremen since 1998, I eventually returned to the UK in 2004 and took up my current position at Betsi Cadwaladr University Healthboard. Since then I have also established my private practice based in Wrexham and Chester.
I am a member of the British Association of Urological Surgeons (BAUS), the European Association of Urologists (EAU), the International Continence Society (ICS) and the German Urological Association.
I have become the lead specialist in the treatment of men's health issues such as Peyronie's disease, erectile dysfunction and other conditions affecting the external male genitals in North Wales.
While I offer a comprehensive service in all aspects of urology, my sub-specialist interest focuses on functional problems of the lower urinary tract and conditions affecting the external genitals.
Erectile dysfunction and impotence
diagnostic assessment including laboratory tests and imaging with ultrasound and X-ray
conservative and surgical treatment (incl. microsurgical revascularisation and penile implant surgery)
conservative and surgical treatment of Peyronie's disease and penile abnormalities (including bent penis, penile fracture, micropenis and penile enlargement)
fertility problems and microsurgical vasectomy reversal
antegrade sclerotherapy of varicocele
Treatment of urethral strictures
endoscopic and open surgery with and without graft material
Treatment of male and female urinary incontinence
Comprehensive urological assessment including videourodynamic studies
conservative and surgical treatment (Botulinumtoxin, bulking agents, slings and artificial urinary sphincter implants)
I have published a number of scientific articles and presented on congresses and medical conferences. I have contributed chapters to urological textbooks and regularly teach nurses, students as well as undergraduate and postgraduate doctors.
I aim to practice medicine to the highest ethical standards and I am committed to the principles of continued medical education and life-long learning. I regularly attend national and international meetings and congresses to enhance my knowledge and ensure that patients receive state-of-the-art treatment.
